Power your thoughts

Republished from johnassaraf.com

"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”—Albert Einstein
Power of Your Thoughts

Thoughts create everything. But here’s the problem. Most people spend their time thinking about what they don’t want, and they’re wondering why it shows up over and over again. In The Secret, we referred to this as the “don’t want” epidemic. When people think, speak, act and focus on what they don’t want, they keep it alive.
You can free yourself of this epidemic by thinking and speaking about what you do want. Your thoughts not only matter, they create matter. Thought is where everything comes from. And your thoughts are where your business comes from. Consciousness is what the universe is made of; matter and energy are just two of the forms that consciousness takes.
So, what am I saying here, that everything is made of thought? That thought creates the physical world? Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. In a nutshell, here is the conclusion so far of humanity’s epic quest to understand the world:
  1. Everything in the physical world is made out of atoms.
  2. Atoms are made out of energy.
  3. Energy is made out of consciousness.
If all of this seems difficult to grasp or accept, imagine what it must have seemed like to the people of Galileo’s time when they were asked to consider the proposition that the earth travels through space around the sun. Or the idea of a spherical earth to pre-Socratic philosophers. The truth is, we don’t see what is there. We see what we are prepared to see, what we are conditioned to see.
Once we know that everything is energy—that there is no absolute distinction between matter and energy—then the boundaries between the physical world and the world of our thoughts start to disappear as well.
You’ve heard the old expression, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” But that’s not really how it is. The truth is more like this: “You’ll see it when you believe it.”
When novelist Victor Hugo said, “There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come,” we now know that this was more than a metaphor. He may not have fully realized it at the time, but he was giving us a literal description of how reality works. Our thoughts are the controlling factor in what we manifest and create in our lives.
The idea precedes the thing.
In a very real, concrete sense, your beliefs don’t simply reflect your reality, they create your reality. This concept applies to the reality of massive success in business.
Listen to your thoughts. What are the dominant thoughts that run through your mind?

Review your thought list. Is it a list of “don’t wants” or wants? What thoughts do you need to change?
Replace your “don’t wants” with wants. When you find yourself thinking of things you don’t want to manifest in your life, interrupt those thoughts and replace them with thoughts about what you do want.
Start with a picture, an idea in your mind, and before you know it, you will be living it. This is at the heart of how my dream house showed up, as well as every business I have built. The same thing happens to every business person who has a vision and knows their thoughts have a direct, causal impact on reality.
Your thoughts and beliefs are the most powerful force in the universe. Make sure you are cognizant of yours.
The Answer for you: The secret to your success lies in controlling your thoughts.

5 Ways To Stay Happy No Matter What Happens

Re-published from pickthebrain.com

Most people have no control over their emotional well-being. They feel ecstatic when good stuff happens and depressed when things go wrong. Their lives are roller coaster rides: sometimes up, sometimes way down.
But what if you could be happy no matter what happens?
You’d stay calm when your car breaks down and your boss shouts at you. You’d stop feeling lonely when there’s no one to talk to on a rainy day. You’d never lose sleep over a relationship that isn’t working out.
If being in command of your emotional state sounds good, take charge of your life with these 5 easy tips.
1. Stop Chasing and Start Living
Many people feel they need something – more money, new clothes, better relationships – to make them happy. They think: “If only I had that other thing, I would be complete”. Instead of enjoying life, they chase a vague idea of happiness.
But even when you get everything that’s supposed to make you happy, life will have ups and downs. Today your car breaks down; tomorrow you pull your calf muscle. If you look hard enough, you’ll always find reasons to be miserable.
So stop chasing; start living. Wanting more is fine, but don’t forget to relax and enjoy life for what it is – in the present.
2. Assume Responsibility
We often blame other people, circumstances and even objects for our problems. “I’m this way because my dad didn’t love me enough”; “I hate my stupid car for breaking down all the time.”
But life is full of different people and situations: some are good and some are bad. Unless you assume responsibility for your life, you’ll always be at the mercy of those circumstances.
Instead of blaming others for what’s wrong in your life, focus on what you can do to make things better. Never sulk and try not to feel sorry for yourself too often. It’s your responsibility to make yourself happy: nobody else’s.
3. Stop Seeking Stimulation
We live in a world of endless stimulation. Between movies, video games and the internet, something exciting’s always going on. Sometimes, this makes us feel bored and restless when we run out of stuff to do.
If you want to be happy, overcome this addiction. Develop the ability to enjoy life in its entirety – even when the stimulation stops.
Appreciate the sky you see on your way to work each day. Cherish each moment you spend with the people you love. Savor every bite of food you get to eat. Enjoying every experience will give you many new reasons to be happy.
4. Take Action
Taking action is the logical consequence of assuming responsibility for your life (Point #2).
When you want to lose weight – start jogging. Someone’s being rude to you? Tell them to stop. If you’re unhappy with your job, start looking for a new one. Get behind the steering wheel of your own life!
This site has plenty of advice that will help you take action the smart way. Educate yourself and commit to find happiness no matter what it takes. With enough hard work and dedication, you really can create the life you want.
5. Expect Nothing
We expect others to treat us better than we treat them. We work out a few times and stress because we don’t instantly look like models. We want to live like rockstars, ignoring the fact that only a few people reach that level of success.
In short, we tend to have unreasonable expectations. The difference between what we feel entitled to and what we actually get is the source of much misery.
Accept life in its entirety; stop thinking in terms of what should be and accept what is. When you live without entitlement, every good thing becomes a wonderful surprise. Even better, expecting nothing means never being disappointed.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, bad things will happen to you. You will have highs, lows and lots of mediums in your life. You’re only human, just like everybody else.
But follow the 5 tips in this post and you’ll be well on your way to staying happy – no matter what happens.

Belief in self can move mountains or should I say mountain sized problems. It is that powerful thing that can help you make the most daring decisions to be your best, to be a powerful person.

If you still don't believe me, go ahead & look for those moments in life when you were down & out with everything, but because of that belief in yourselves & the moments around you, you were able to bring down the problem to the ground.

Start Believing in yourself.

How Gratitude Can Change Your Life

Re-published from thechangeblog

“If the only prayer you say in your life is ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” – Meister Eckhart

Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given. Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. In addition, behavioral and psychological research has shown the surprising life improvements that can stem from the practice of gratitude. Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.

Research Shows Gratitude Heightens Quality of Life

Two psychologists, Michael McCollough of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and Robert Emmons of the University of California at Davis, wrote an article about an experiment they conducted on gratitude and its impact on well-being. The study split several hundred people into three different groups and all of the participants were asked to keep daily diaries. The first group kept a diary of the events that occurred during the day without being told specifically to write about either good or bad things; the second group was told to record their unpleasant experiences; and the last group was instructed to make a daily list of things for which they were grateful. The results of the study indicated that daily gratitude exercises resulted in higher reported levels of alertness, enthusiasm, determination, optimism, and energy. In addition, those in the gratitude group experienced less depression and stress, were more likely to help others, exercised more regularly, and made greater progress toward achieving personal goals.

Dr. Emmons – who has been studying gratitude for almost ten years and is considered by many to be the world’s leading authority on gratitude – is author of the book, “Thanks!: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier”. The information in this book is based on research involving thousands of people conducted by a number of different researchers around the world. One of the things these studies show is that practicing gratitude can increase happiness levels by around 25%. This is significant, among other things, because just as there’s a certain weight that feels natural to your body and which your body strives to maintain, your basic level of happiness is set at a predetermined point. If something bad happens to you during the day, your happiness can drop momentarily, but then it returns to its natural set-point. Likewise, if something positive happens to you, your level of happiness rises, and then it returns once again to your “happiness set-point”. A practice of gratitude raises your “happiness set-point” so you can remain at a higher level of happiness regardless of outside circumstances.

In addition, Dr. Emmons’ research shows that those who practice gratitude tend to be more creative, bounce back more quickly from adversity, have a stronger immune system, and have stronger social relationships than those who don’t practice gratitude. He further points out that “To say we feel grateful is not to say that everything in our lives is necessarily great. It just means we are aware of our blessings.”

Notice and Appreciate Each Day’s Gifts

People tend to take for granted the good that is already present in their lives. There’s a gratitude exercise that instructs that you should imagine losing some of the things that you take for granted, such as your home, your ability to see or hear, your ability to walk, or anything that currently gives you comfort. Then imagine getting each of these things back, one by one, and consider how grateful you would be for each and every one. In addition, you need to start finding joy in the small things instead of holding out for big achievements—such as getting the promotion, having a comfortable nest egg saved up, getting married, having the baby, and so on–before allowing yourself to feel gratitude and joy.
Another way to use giving thanks to appreciate life more fully is to use gratitude to help you put things in their proper perspective. When things don’t go your way, remember that every difficulty carries within it the seeds of an equal or greater benefit. In the face of adversity ask yourself: “What’s good about this?”, “What can I learn from this?”, and “How
can I benefit from this?”

There are Many Ways to Practice Gratitude

A common method to develop the practice of gratitude is to keep a gratitude journal, a concept that was made famous by Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book “Simple Abundance Journal of Gratitude”. This exercise basically consists of writing down every day a list of three to ten things for which you are grateful; you can do this first thing in the morning or before going to bed at night. Another exercise you can try is to write a gratitude letter to a person who has exerted a positive influence in your life but whom you have not properly thanked. Some experts suggest that you set up a meeting with this person and read the letter to them face to face.

Last year millions of people took the challenge proposed by Will Bowen, a Kansas City minister, to go 21 days without complaining, criticizing, or gossiping. To help condition the participants to stop complaining, they each wore a purple No-Complaint wristband. Several authors in the self-improvement genre have suggested that people do something similar to help condition themselves to be constantly aware of the things in life that they’re grateful for.
A variation of the wristband concept is to create a gratitude charm bracelet, with either one meaningful charm or different charms representing the things you’re most grateful for. For example, you could have a charm shaped like a heart to symbolize your significant other, figurines to represent different family members, an apple to represent health, a dollar sign to symbolize abundance, a charm that represents your current profession or a future career, and maybe a charm that makes you laugh to represent humor and joy.

Conclusion

Once you become oriented toward looking for things to be grateful for, you will find that you begin to appreciate simple pleasures and things that you previously took for granted. Gratitude should not be just a reaction to getting what you want, but an all-the-time gratitude, the kind where you notice the little things and where you constantly look for the good even in unpleasant situations. Today, start bringing gratitude to your experiences, instead of waiting for a positive experience in order to feel grateful; in this way, you’ll be on your way toward becoming a master of gratitude.

How to use Switch Words

Re-published from healbyswitchword

Intention healing using switch words

Like in Reiki, you can do INTENTION HEALING using Switch Words. Make an intention within yourself (stating your goal and desires) and chant the Switch Words.

Healing Others

To heal others put their name in a piece of paper, keep it on the left hand and chant the Switch Words. Preferably chant during the beginning of the day and then later before going to sleep.

How long and how many times we need to chant?

Chris
How many times one should chant a combination to make it effective?
Naran
Till you get what you want. Or you can stop when you come out of the present (state of mind)

Instructions for chanting switch words

Just repeat the switch word, for example, ‘DIVINE ORDER’ any number of times, whenever possible. Repeating the switch word is chanting.

Writing the combination in a notebook

Naran
You can write (in multiples of) 21 times/day in a notebook for (multiples of) 21 days.

Hearing recorded switch words

Hiran
I have recorded switch words of my own voice and stored it in my mobile memory. I hear the recorded switch word with my earphone. Can it work in sleep or half-sleep state?
Naran
Yes. It will (in both the states).

Combining switch words with other healing methods

For fever one patient was prescribed CRAB APPLE CHANGE DIVINE ORDER. Crab apple is a Bach Flower remedy, while Change and Divine Order are switch words. Both Bach flower remedy and Switch words can be combined during chanting.

Energizing water with Switch words

Is it possible to chant them and sprinkle the water or to drink the water? Yes you can. Chant them and sprinkle the water or drink the water.
Water will absorb Switch Words energies better. Chant a Switch Words 100 times while holding a glass of water and give the water to children as they won’t chant. The Japam you are doing is of no use if there is no water or earth – in the form of Vibhuddi or Kumkum, while chanting. All Switch Words work with water. Anything spoken to water will be absorbed by it. Do chanting of the Switch Words either for 108 times or chant them for duration of 5 to 10 minutes. No specific time is required.
Label the water bottle with the Switch Words. The water will absorb the energy of it. In addition to that, do chanting as well.

Using circle technique

  1. Write the name of the person(s) or the situation to be healed in a piece of paper.
  2. Draw a circle around the name/situation.
  3. Draw one more concentric circle.
  4. In between each gap between circles, write one switch word.
  5. Keep the paper with you.
  6. See it in the morning and evening

When do I add Release Resistance to Switch Words

Ani
For how long should one chant before we put RELEASE RESISTANCE to the Switch Words? Can RELEASE RESISTANCE only be put before one Switch Word or could it be put in front of a Switch Word combination?
How do you recommend the chanting loud or silent?
Naran
RELEASE RESISTANCE is also a switch word. If one is unable to get the desired result with the use of switch words, then release resistance is to be added before the string of switch words.
Silent chanting is enough.

Finding harmony with a person, you are in conflict with

How to use this for harmony? With this one technique that follows, we can do for all other problems.
‘A’ and I are quarrelling. Visualize A is on the left hand and yourself on the right hand. Chant the switch words CONCEDE CLEAR CENTRE FIND DIVINE LOVE, for a minimum 100 to 200 times. Bring the right hand closer to left hand slowly. Finally both hands should meet (which should not happen until you finish chanting). Immediately harmony will be established between you too.
When the hands come closer to each other, and if you find it difficult to merge both the hands, at that time chant CENTRE many times and finally it will merge.

Finding harmony among two individuals

Let us say ‘A’ and ‘B’ are quarrelling. Keep A on the left and B on the right hand. Chant CONCEDE CLEAR FIND DIVINE LOVE WITH many times, bring the hands closer to each other and finally join them both.

Solving physical problems

For physical problems – (visualize) keep the problem and name of the person on the left hand, and chant CONCEDE CLEAR CENTRE CANCEL DIVINE BE NOW DONE. BE is for physical health.

Problem-Solution Approach

For other problems – (visualize) keep the problem on the left hand, and chant CONCEDE CLEAR CENTRE FIND DIVINE LOVE. Problem will be solved, for the good of everybody concerned.

Why Your Happiness Has Little to Do With Positive Thinking

Re-published from huffingtonpost

I used to believe that positive thinking is the key to a happy life. We've all heard it before -- try to look at the glass half full and you'll be happier that way. And who knows, maybe you can even "think (positively) and grow rich" or "attract what you want with (positive) thought wave," as well-meaning motivational speakers want you to believe.

I worked diligently on my thoughts. I did daily affirmations and tried all sorts of visualizations. They did make me feel better... for a spectacular half-day. And then I would fall back to the old me, like Cinderella after the midnight ball.

The problem with positive thinking is that thoughts are only one layer in the complex totality of human existence. A fluid and shallow layer, for that matter. Thoughts come and go faster than you can say "hello." You may breed a hatch of new ones in the blink of an eye. But the next moment they disappear, faster than the falling stars across the sky.

It's true that thoughts affect your well-being. But what's even more true is that the state of your being governs the texture of your thoughts. When we are well rested and emotionally balanced, positive thoughts flow naturally with little effort. When we feel depressed and heavy, negative thoughts multiply, which the conscious mind then uses to justify our bad feelings -- the mind needs a reason for everything.

That's why believing in "change your thoughts, change your life" is just like believing that you can put out a fire by dispelling the smoke. Not that it will never work. It's just a lot of work for not a lot of results.

Yet manipulating thoughts has become a favorite "personal development" tool of many. Because it's safe and convenient. You don't have to face the ugly, dark and vulnerable within you. You don't have to get anywhere close to the your own vast humanness, which may be scary-looking to the untrained eyes. There would be no cracks on the wall of your existence, as long as you patch them up with the filling of positive thinking. And then you'll never have to look at them again.

That is, not until those cracks turn into gaping hollows on a certain stormy night. Whatever shame, guilt or fear we hide under the blanket of positivity, life has a way to shove them right in our face, some day.

This game will repeat itself, again and again, until we realize that the very feeling we avoid eye contact with, is what deserves the most love from us.

As long as you take your thoughts seriously, you can use one thought to counter the other. You can play house with yourself in the endless drama of human mind and be infinitely entertained.

But if what you want is real transformation, then deeper digging within your own being is a must. So instead of thinking yourself positively to happiness, why not try some of these:

1. Listen to your inner truth.
Choose honesty over positivity, every time. Instead of feeding yourself speeches of exhortation, learn to converse with yourself intimately. You have an internal GPS that tells you how you are and what you need at any given time, if you're willing, and have the courage, to listen.

2. Love and embrace whatever state you are in.
Do not judge or shun away from your sorrow, doubts or feelings of inadequacy. They are part of being human. Accept them as your own. Offer compassion to yourself, just like how you'd comfort a downtrodden friend. When you're safe for yourself to be with, the world becomes a more welcoming place for confidence and joy to grow naturally.

3. Take care of yourself.
Eat right, sleep well, exercise regularly. Give yourself plenty of downtime and playtime. You radiate effortless positivity when your body is healthy and your mind poised. A state of equanimity breeds benevolent thoughts, which in turn reinforces your well-being. It's a virtuous cycle that starts with tending your own precious self.

4. Trust your journey.
The mind is quick to assign value judgments to whatever happens to you based on its immediate payoff. But know that in the long term, no experience is wasted--even the ones you deem negative. The closing of one door may just be so that another can open. And ultimately, they all lead to the growth and expansion of your soul. You won't need positive thinking to get you through a challenge, if you trust that darkness has a purpose and life--though you may not see it right at this moment-- has its own intelligent design.

ASK ALI: Stay positive to help you stick with resolutions

Re-published from http://www.fltimes.com/lifestyle/article_bafafda0-976f-11e4-966d-6f9325e13e92.html

Happy New Year!

What resolutions did you make? Are they realistic or are they overwhelming? How are you going to keep those resolutions for the next 365 days? Do you have a plan?
Here are some ideas to help you stay on track. New Year’s resolutions are about changing habits. There are areas of your life that you are uncomfortable with and you want to make some changes.
In the beginning it is easy to stay focused on your resolutions because of your excitement and enthusiasm, but eventually that starts to dwindle and then what?
Remember, you have made a promise to yourself to improve your life. Write those resolutions down and post them everywhere. Post them in your car, on your bathroom mirror, on your refrigerator, anywhere you can see what you promised yourself. Write the resolution in a positive, motivating way so when you look at it you feel inspired.
Remember that you matter. You matter to your family, you matter to your friends and, most importantly, you matter to you. If you don’t believe that, then make a resolution to tell yourself that you matter.
Remember that your resolutions are for you to improve your life and only you can make — and keep — those promises. Resolutions are really lifestyle changes. When you follow through for a whole year, they become a permanent habit and your life will change. Be committed, stay strong and get support.
Hopefully your friends and family are on board with what you’ve resolved and they are behind you 100 percent. Avoid the naysayers who are not supportive because they are not committed to you and your progress. You can do this if you are committed, so stay committed.
Stay positive and mentally strong. You can do it!

The Power of Positive Thinking

Re-Published from successconsciousness
Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results.
A positive person anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes he or she can overcome any obstacle and difficulty.
Positive thinking is not accepted by everyone. Some, consider it as nonsense, and scoff at people who follow it, but there is a growing number of people, who accept positive thinking as a fact, and believe in its effectiveness.
It seems that this subject is gaining popularity, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it.
To use it in your life, you need more than just to be aware of its existence. You need to adopt the attitude of positive thinking in everything you do.

How Positive Thinking Works

The following story illustrates how this power works:
Allan applied for a new job, but he didn't believe he will get it, since his self-esteem was low, and he considered himself as a failure and unworthy of success.
He had a negative attitude toward himself, and therefore, believed that the other applicants were better and more qualified than him.
Allan's mind was occupied with negative thoughts and fears concerning the job, for the whole week preceding the job interview. He actually, anticipated failure.
On the day of the interview, he got up late, and to his horror he discovered that the shirt he planned to wear was dirty, and the other one needed ironing. As it was already too late, he went out wearing a wrinkled shirt and without eating breakfast.
During the interview, he was tense, negative, hungry and worried about his shirt. All this, distracted his mind and made it difficult for him to focus on the interview. His overall behavior made a bad impression, and consequently, he materialized his fear and did not get the job.
Jim applied for the same job too, but approached the matter in a different way. He was sure that he was going to get the job. During the week preceding the interview, he often visualized himself making a good impression and getting the job.
In the evening before the interview, he prepared the clothes he was going to wear, and went to sleep a little earlier. On day of the interview, he woke up earlier than usual, and had ample time to eat breakfast, and then to arrive to the interview before the scheduled time.
Jim made a good impression and got the job.
What do we learn from these two stories? Was there any magic used? No, everything happened in a natural way.

Positive Thinking Is a Way of Life

With a positive attitude we experience pleasant and happy feelings. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy, and happiness. Our whole being broadcasts good will, happiness and success. Even our health is affected in a beneficial way. We walk tall, our voice is more powerful, and our body language shows the way we feel.
Positive and negative thinking are contagious.
We affect, and are affected by the people we meet, in one way or another. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through words, thoughts and feelings, and through body language.
Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people, and prefer to avoid negative ones?
People are more disposed to help us, if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity.
Negative thoughts, words and attitude, create negative and unhappy feelings, moods and behavior. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment.

Positive Thinking Practical Instructions

In order to turn the mind toward the positive, some inner work is required, since attitude and thoughts do not change overnight.
  1. Read about this subject, think about its benefits, and persuade yourself to try it. The power of your thoughts is a mighty power that is always shaping your life. This shaping is usually done subconsciously, but it is possible to make the process a conscious one. Even if the idea seems strange, give it a try. You have nothing to lose, but only to gain.
  2. Ignore what other people say or think about you, if they discover that you are changing the way you think.
  3. Use your imagination to visualize only favorable and beneficial situations.
  4. Use positive words in your inner dialogues, or when talking with others.
  5. Smile a little more, as this helps to think positively.
  6. Once a negative thought enters your mind, you have to be aware of it, and endeavor to replace it with a constructive one. If the negative thought returns, replace it again with a positive one. It is as if there are two pictures in front of you, and you have to choose to look at one of them, and disregard the other. Persistence will eventually teach your mind to think positively, and to ignore negative thoughts.
  7. In case you experience inner resistance and difficulties when replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, do not give up, but keep looking only at the beneficial, good and happy thoughts in your mind.
  8. It doesn't matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positively, expect only favorable results and situations, and circumstances will change accordingly. If you persevere, you will transform the way your mind thinks. It might take some time for the changes to take place, but eventually they will.
  9. Another useful technique is the repetition of affirmations. This technique is similar to creative visualization, and can be used together with it.
